I've lived with Aussies since the weekend I turned 10 years old and our family picked up our very first, Zachary, a black tri male, as a puppy. My dad was not an dog person, but like almost every person that isn't a "dog person", our intuitive Aussie won him over. Zachary passed away in 2008 but he will always have a special place in my heart as the dog I grew up with and who went everywhere with me.
In 2006, after attending the 2004 ASCA nationals in California and some more conformation shows and becoming more interested in all the venues Australian Shepherds can do, I got Lassen from Laura at Marabil Aussies. I can't thank her enough for entrusting me with Lassen and being my mentor. We have shown her to her ASCA championship together, and I have high hopes for Lassen as my foundation dam.
In 2013, we had a big change in our lives when we welcomed our first child. In 2016 we had our second child but also moved close to Placerville (40 minutes from Sacramento) to have some property so our dogs and children have room to run. It has been an adjustment trying to have time for all the dog hobbies (showing, agility, breeding etc) at the same time as having young children, but now in 2018-2019 it's slowly getting easier since we are past the "baby" age for our kids.
My goals for Ashfall Australian Shepherds is to produce beautiful Aussies as close to the breed standard as possible. But even more importantly, never losing sight of the health, temperament, and versatility this amazing breed can offer. We strive to create dogs that anyone would be proud to own, although Aussies aren't always the best breed for everyone. Aussies are awesome for people who want their dog to be part of their daily life; they are very in tune with people and love doing activities with their families.
I am a California Registered Vet Tech, and take the health of my dogs, and any dogs I breed, very seriously. We want you to enjoy your Aussie for as many years as possible with minimal problems along the way.
