All parents have received OFA hip & elbows clearances, and eyes screened with no notations by a veterinary ophthalmologist . They have also had other genetic tests done that pertain to the individual's pedigree when indicated (cataract, MDR1, CEA, DM etc.)
All puppies, companion or show, are sold on a contract that guarantees against hip & elbow dysplasia, and hereditary eye defects. Additional guarantees may apply to show potential puppies.
All companion and/or performance puppies are sold on a spay/neuter contract with papers marked "not for breeding". They are still eligible to compete in all performance venues, or in the ASCA altered conformation ring. We recommend spaying and neutering around 18 months to let the puppy mature first, but it must be done by 24 months.
All companion and/or performance puppies are sold for $1800 , regardless of sex or color. Show/breeding potential puppies are by private treaty and may require an co-ownership.
Puppies are evaluated to be show , performance, or companion quality between the age of 7-8 weeks. This is not done by color or sex, but rather structure and movement based on the breed standard to meet show potential. Additionally, for a puppy to be considered for a performance home, we look for characteristics in their personality that would indicate they have the drive and biddability to do so. Many times a "pet" puppy might meet these standards, but if they aren't going to be competitive in the show/performance ring, they do not need to be bred.
Puppies go to their new homes between 8-10 weeks old.
Puppies are raised in our home until 4-5 weeks old, then go outside during the day. They will have many visitors, young and old, and be exposed to different situations and sounds. They will have car rides, started crate training, one-on-one time with humans and grooming & bathing experiences prior to going to their new homes.
They are raised in a household with 2 children , a very tolerant cat, chickens, and goats.
All puppies come with the following: Eyes cleared by a veterinary ophthalmologist at 6-8 weeks old, AKC & ASCA registration papers, already microchipped, fecal screenings for internal parasites, first dose of flea control and heartworm prevention, vet checked, first vaccinations, and a "puppy packet" that includes: puppy's current food, treats, toys, pedigree, & health record.
In the case of a litter that might produce an "MDR1 mutant/mutant" puppy, all puppies are tested prior to going to their new homes, and new owners will know their puppy's status. We do this so their future vet can know their status when it comes to choosing medications. More information about MDR1 gene can be found under the Extras-Health-MDR1 link.
We do not sell puppies only to never hear from their owners again. We are available for questions you might have, and LOVE having updates and photos sent to us as the puppy grows up.
If at any time in the puppy/dog's life you are not able to keep him or her, the dog must be returned to Ashfall Aussies in order to be placed with another qualified home . This is because we don't want to lose contact with our dog...we need to know where a dog we bred ends up because we are responsible for them for life!
Puppies are held with a non-refundable deposit ($300) to approved homes. Deposits are not taken until puppies are born. We will take preferences for color/sex, however, we highly, highly prefer to place on temperament and personality first and foremost to match the family.
After a litter is planned but no puppies are born yet, we maintain an interest /wait list for interested families. The first step to getting on this list is to complete the puppy questionnaire on our website.
Puppy Visits start at 5 weeks and no sooner. This is to limit the stress to the dam during the neonatal age and to minimize disease transmission. The puppies personalities don't fully develop til around 7 weeks. We will share lots of photos and videos so you won't miss out!
Ashfall Aussies always retains the right to decline a buyer/potential owner at any point, for any reason.
